PRIVACY COLLECTION STATEMENT 

The Activate Australia’s Skills campaign is a project of Settlement Services International Limited (SSI). 

SSI and its subsidiaries (SSI Group) are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy and rights of individuals in relation to their personal information. 

SSI Group will collect, keep and deal with your personal information in accordance with applicable legislation from time to time (including the Privacy Act 1988 and state legislation as may apply) and SSI Group’s Privacy Policy. 

Why we need to collect your personal information

The Activate Australia’s Skills campaign collects personal information to send you updates about the campaign and its activities, and to offer you opportunities to be involved in campaign activities.

The campaign will also collect certain personal information you provide when you choose to participate in campaign activities through our website including signing petitions, contacting MPs and sharing your story actions.

Types of personal information we may collect 

The types of personal information we may collect could include:
your name and contact details  

  • your postcode or general location
  • non-sensitive information you provide about your personal and/or family circumstances to support a specific campaign activities (e.g. to share your personal story)
  • non-sensitive information you provide about your cultural and language background to support a specific campaign activities (e.g. to share your personal story)
  • other non-sensitive personal information you provide to support a specific campaign activities (e.g. your employment status, profession, skills and qualifications). 

What we will use your information for

We will use this information to:  

  • keep you up to date with the campaign and related issues
  • contact you about opportunities to be involved in campaign advocacy or actions
  • assess and improve our campaign communications
  • support your participation in campaign activities through our website including signing petitions, contacting MPs and sharing your story actions.

When we might give your information to others

We use third-party service providers such as campaign support, IT, web hosting, data storage, back-up and data analysis services. Some of these third-party service providers have servers located overseas

We require that our service providers have appropriate controls to protect your personal information and ensure it is not disclosed to others in a manner that is consistent with our Privacy Policy and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What if you don’t want to give us the requested information, or if you change your mind

If you do not provide your name and contact information, or if you retract your consent at a later date, it will mean we are unable to provide you updates about the campaign or opportunities to be involved.

Other uses of your de-identified personal information

Your de-identified information may also be used for statistical or research purposes. This means that any personal information that could reasonably identify you will be removed or changed before it is used for this purpose.

SSI Group’s Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and disclose information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). 

It also sets out how you can access or correct your personal information, or make a complaint about a breach of privacy.
